Our not for profit charity registered nature reserve has rare species such as the Great Crested Newt.
On your walk around the reserve's ponds you may also see common and palmate newts, grass snakes, slow worms, little grebe, moorhens and many species of dragonfly including the rare willow emerald.
We also have a pond dipping scheme, see you what you can find!
The reserve is a former chalk quarry. Many species of wildlfower thrive here including nine species of orchids.
Tweyblade, bee, southern marsh, bugloss, teael, and trees, fungi and shrubs including mistletoe, candlesnuff and large leaved spindle tree
Once your admission fee is paid you can walk around our two trails, or participate in pond dipping, arts & crafts, dinosaur hunt or fairy trail.
Part of our education programme involves fossils, geology and animal exhibits. Our fossils range from whale bone to ammonites. We have many exhibits of modern animal bone, sea crustaceans. there is also a collection of geological stone. our animal exhibits range from a still born tiger to wasp nests, to taxidermy birds and mammals.
